Hillary’s Ride for Mental Health Society is planning to raise an estimated amount of ~$60,000 this year through fund raising campaigns and folk music concerts. It will cost our organization an estimate of $10,000.00 to raise these funds.
All money raised will be used to cover the costs of a cross-Canada cycling event commencing May 8, 2013. This date was chosen to honour the memory of Hillary Werthmann as it will be the 10th anniversary of her death at age 20; a victim of mental illness. Three Edmonton based cyclists, one of whom is Hillary’s father, will depart Victoria, BC on a ride to St. John’s NL. Their hope is to raise awareness of mental health concerns and suicide affecting youth and young adults. Funds remaining after the ride will be donated to local mental health organizations.
